I always look for abstract photography opportunities when I am out in the field. The colors of the aspen leaves are spectacular but what I was really mesmerized by was the way the sunlight would create interesting contrasts and tones on the trunks of the trees. By moving the camera vertically while keeping the shutter open, I was able to accentuate that lighting while retaining the wonderful green glow from the leaves. I also liked how the foreground aspen makes a bold statement on top of the more subtle background aspens.
